Brazil, who had already guaranteed their appearance in the semi-finals, were able to switch on the cruise control and watch the other teams battle for the remaining places.

Unlike last year there was no drama, as Italy, China and France qualified in some comfort, neither the USA or the Netherlands being able to mount a serious challenge.

The line up sees Brazil play China in a repeat of last year's final while Italy face France. Just to give you the chance to see egg on the Editor's face I predict the final will be between Brazil and Italy. That should be the kiss of death for both of them!

Today also sees the start of the Women's match between Europe and North America. Just as in the Ryder Cup, I am going for Europe, but keep in mind there are no 'rookies' playing on either of these two teams!
