The 4th IOC Grand Prix will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.

Utah, one of the western states of the United States, bordered by Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Arizona and Nevada, entered the Union in 1896, as the 45th state. Utah has an area of 219,902 sq km (84,904 sq mi); 60% of the land area is owned by the US federal government. According to the 1990 census, Utah had 1,722,850 inhabitants.

 
   

Salt Lake City (pop. 160,000), is the capital of Utah. Situated near the Great Salt Lake, in the northern part of the state, the city is the trade centre for a wide region and also has a variety of manufacturing industries. The international headquarters of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) is the city's major landmark. Other points of interest include the Mormon Tabernacle (1867), home of the 325-voice Mormon Tabernacle Choir; the Mormon Temple (1893); the State Capitol (1915); the Utah Museum of Fine Arts; and Symphony Hall, home of the Utah Symphony Orchestra. Salt Lake City is also the seat of the University of Utah (1850) and Westminster College (1875), and a community college. The Delta Center arena is the home of the Utah Jazz basketball team.

 • Format

10 men teams, 10 women teams and 4 junior teams have been invited to participate (click here for details).

A round-robin of 9 matches of 12 boards each will be played in the men and women series, followed by a semifinal and a final.

Scoring will be by International Match Points (IMPs) with conversion to Victory Points (VPs).

Only very simple bidding systems will be used, to make the game as comprehensible as possible to spectators.

The players for the Junior Event will be made up into four teams of four, and will play team matches throughout.
